Kendall’s Big Girl Room – One Room Challenge – Week 2

Kendall’s Big Girl Room – One Room Challenge – Week 2

Decisions.  I loath decisions.  They literally keep me up at night and consume my thoughts during the day.  By nature I am EXTREMELY indecisive.  I over-analyze to the point of self loathing.  I always say I am going to “sleep on it” but then I wake up at 2:30 with my mind racing with more ideas, new thoughts, and even more decisions.  For example, here are my notes for Kendall’s room from three days ago:

If you can read past the grease stains, I mention blue ceilings, a scallop border, wall decals, and cheetah wallpaper.  Ya.  None of that is happening now.  Or at least I don’t think so but hey, who knows, might change my mind again this afternoon!  Yesterday I put two shades of pink sample paint on the ceiling and didn’t like either.  Then I spent a couple hours drawing out a plan for DIY shiplap.  That would have been SO much work.  Finally I settled on white ceilings.  I know, SO original! (eye roll)  BUT I’m loving clean white right now, and with two accent walls and some fun window coverings her room will be anything but boring!  Here is a pic of my updated vision board.

Here’s what changed:

  • I fell head over heels for that Scallop Dot Wallpaper from These Walls.  Here’s the deal though – it’s like $800 for enough paper for ONE wall.  I just can’t justify spending that much money on ANYTHING really.  So I reached out to my old buddy Alex from StencilsLAB who I found out from my last project makes CUSTOM wall stencils.  So he’s whipping up this stencil for me for under $150!  What a savings AND I’m pumped I get to do something unique and artistic in her room.
  • I found these BEAUTS of curtains from Society 6.  They are feminine, colorful yet muted, and just boho enough to add a little funk to her otherwise preppy bedroom.  Also they remind me of the wallpaper my grandma had in her bathroom… not sure if that is a good or bad thing! I’m going with good.  We call that RETRO around these parts 😉
  • That chair is still in the board for inspiration.  In reality it is a MINIATURE chair.  What I’m looking for is a chair for a small human.  This seems hard to find for some reason.

And here’s what I’ve done so far:

  • Ordered the custom wall stencil
  • Painted the ceiling and some of the walls
  • Purchased some wall art/decor

YIKES!   Not much – and so much still to do!  Here are a couple of progress shots with our DOPE hats courtesy of Kelly Moore Paints.  🙂
